Driver Arrested After Two CHP Officers Hurt In Suspected DUI Crash In Lakeside


In an incident, a suspected drunken driver collided with a patrol car in Lakeside, hurting two California Highway Patrol officers as a result.

The incident took place at the intersection of Los Coches Road. As the officers were driving through the intersection, a suspected drunken driver ran a red light on Julian Avenue. The incident took place at about 1 a.m. Friday.

The officers were rushed to a local hospital and they had been released from the hospital by 6:30 a.m.

The officers were not yet identified but they said that they suffered pain and bruises and are recovering.

Apart from the two officers, four other people were also hurt in the crash. The driver of the vehicle, who was suspected to be driving under the influence of alcohol, identified as 19-year-old Cerys C. Mulvey, was injured. Three other passengers in the motor vehicle were also injured.

Mulvey was arrested on suspicion of DUI. According to police reports, she does not have a criminal record.

According to witnesses, several bottles of liquor were pulled from the driver’s car by the officers, along with some drugs.

Witness Alisha Castillo said, “I haven’t seen that many at a party, let alone in a car.”
