DUI Arrest Made In Recent Tenderloin Crash
A 29-year-old driver was recently charged with DUI in a crash that injured one pedestrian on September 10, 2019. According to CBS-5 Bay Area, this crash happened around 5PM by the Tenderloin Community Volunteer Mural. Allegedly, a driver behind the wheel of a Kia SUV hit a young pedestrian between Golden Gate and Leavenworth.
First responders immediately transported the crash victim to an area hospital where, thankfully, he is expected to recover from his injuries. Police are still investigating exactly what led to this crash, but they believe DUI was a factor. This crash occurred not too far from a deadly bicycle crash just last year.
The Intricacies Of California’s DUI Laws
It’s important for those accused of DUI in California to understand that everyone who is convicted doesn’t face the same punishment. Judges review cases on an individual basis and take many details into account before assigning punishment.
For instance, people arrested for their first DUI could face anywhere from $400 to $1,000 in fines depending on the nature of the crash. Jail time could range from as little as 48-hours to a few months, and your driver’s license could be suspended for between four to six months.
You should also remember DUIs are erased from your record after 10 years in CA. Working with an experienced attorney will significantly help you navigate the complicated world of DUI law.
