ALBANY, NY – A two-week holiday crackdown on drivers who choose to drink and drive is planned by the New York State.
The plan was announced on Thursday. The crackdown will be started from Friday and it will end on 1st of January. Sobriety checkpoints will be setup and the number of patrols will be increased with the help of marked and unmarked police vehicles.
Cops will catch motorists driving under the influence of alcohol as well as those who violate seat belt laws; they will also look for those who use mobile phones while behind the wheel.
447 individuals were taken into custody during last year’s crackdown and almost 11,000 individuals were issued tickets for speeding.
