On Sunday, a crash was caused by a suspected driver driving under the influence in which a man died who had gotten out of his disabled car on the Ventura 101 Freeway. 24-year-old Alfredo Abraham Alvara was the victim and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to the California Highway Patrol, a man got out of his disabled gray Scion when a suspected drunken driver in a white Toyota 4Runner struck him in the slow lane of the 101 near the Balboa Boulevard off-ramp.
A spokesman with the California Highway Patrol, Officer Leland Tang, said that there were 2 female passengers seated in the Scion. They both were transported to the hospital. 1 of the 2 females is in critical condition and the other suffered minor injuries in the accident. There was also a female passenger riding in the 4Runner who suffered non-life threatening injuries.
Police identified the driver of the 4Runner as 31-year-old Robert Graves. Officials said that Graves was locked up in a Los Angeles jail.
For investigation of the incident, police blocked one of the westbound freeway lanes and the off-ramp at Balboa. Crews cleared the debris from the road.
