NBC Sports announcer Al Michaels arrested for alleged DUI

NBC Sports announcer Al Michaels arrested for alleged DUISANTA MONICA, Calif. – On Friday night, NBC Sports announcer Al Michaels was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving in Southern California.

According to Santa Monica police Sgt. Richard Lewis, Michaels was pulled over by police officers at 9:30 p.m. after he made an illegal U-turn. Then he was taken to the station for a test which showed his BAC level above the legal driving limit which is 0.08 percent. Michaels was booked for suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol. He spent 5 hours in the Santa Monica City Jail. He was very cooperative according to Lewis. On Saturday morning, he was released on his own recognizance.

Greg Hughes, a spokesman for NBC Sports said, “We are aware of the situation and we’ve been in contact with Al. We have no further comment at this time”.

On 26th of June, Michaels is summoned to the Los Angeles Municipal Court at 8:30.

A call Sunday by The Associated Press to Michaels’ agent was not immediately returned.

68-year-old Michaels is an Emmy Award winner and broadcaster on “Sunday Night Football”. Last year, he received the Vin Scully Lifetime Achievement Award in Sports Broadcasting. He called Monday Night Football for 20 years and now he is calling Sunday Night Football for NBC.
