Former San Francisco Firefighter pleads not guilty to DUI charges

43-year-old Michael Quinn, a former San Francisco firefighter, pleaded not guilty to driving under the influence charges that arise from a grand jury indictment for a 2013 accident between his fire truck and a motorcycle, according to a report by KTVU.

Quinn appeared before San Francisco Superior Court Judge Bruce Chan and remains out of custody on $100,000 bail for the crash incident that happened on 28th of June 2013.

Quinn entered not guilty pleas to three felony charges of driving under the influence, including driving under the influence causing injury and driving a commercial motor vehicle with a blood alcohol content of .04 percent or higher.

He was taken into custody after he struck a motorcycle on Fifth and Howard streets in the city’s South of Market neighborhood. The motorcyclist sustained life threatening injuries in the accident and has since been recovering.

Quinn was charged by a grand jury in March after the San Francisco District Attorney’s Office initially refused to file charges last July following his arrest.

Quinn was working for the fire department for the last 23 years; he resigned from the department in November. He had been placed on unpaid leave following his arrest.
