San Mateo Man Arrested For DUI For Allegedly Hitting Students

According to the police, a driver involved in an accident, due to which three teenage special-education students and their instructor sustained injuries during a school field trip in San Mateo, was taken into custody on suspicion of DUI.

On Thursday, 53-year-old John Henry Zborowski was booked on a $350,000 arrest warrant at San Mateo County Jail. He was charged with felony drunken driving causing bodily injury and enhancements for allegedly causing great bodily injury and inflicting injury on multiple victims.

On 10th of September, the accident occurred around 10:30 a.m. on the 300 block of West Hillsdale Boulevard when Zborowski drove his Acuraon to the sidewalk at a curve in the road while travelling west, according to San Mateo police Sgt. Rick Decker.

Chief Deputy District Attorney Karen Guidotti told that Police found Zborowski fainted behind the wheel.

The student teacher, a 28-year-old Belmont woman, sustained head trauma and broken bones, while the students who were boys of ages 15-year-old, 16-year-old, and 18-year-old suffered scrapes, cuts and other non-life threatening injuries in the accident.

Sheri Costa-Batis, a spokeswoman for the San Mateo Union High School District told that the teenagers who were injured are special-needs students at Hillsdale High School.
