Elderly man arrested for DUI after crashing into house
PALO ALTO, Calif. – Reports confirm that an elderly man has been arrested for driving under the influence after he drove into a pedestrian and a Palo Alto home. The incident took place on Tuesday at 4:23 p.m. in the 800 block of Boyce Avenue.
According to the Palo Alto Fire Department, the car with the drunk driver veered off of Boyce Avenue into a home. That home was scheduled for demolition next week for a remodel.
Police Agent Cynthia Kono said that as a result of the crash, a man in his 30s was struck in front of the house and rushed to Stanford Hospital’s emergency room. Sources told that he suffered from moderate injuries and is expected to survive. He belongs to San Francisco.
The drunk driver driving the car was later arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence and will be booked into San Mateo County Jail. He is in his 70s and belongs to Palo Alto.
Fire officials told that Firefighters are trying to make it safe for the homeowners to retrieve belongings by shoring the damaged structure. The north side of the home was badly damaged.
