Alleged Drunk Driver Arrested After Driving Stolen Rose Bowl Golf Cart Onto California Freeways

On Friday, a 19-year-old man was taken into custody on suspicion of driving under the influence after driving a stolen Rose Bowl golf cart onto the 210 Freeway in Pasadena following a college football game on New Year’s Day, according to the authorities.

A new release issued by CHP showed that California Highway Patrol officers responded after receiving a 911 call from an individual who told them they saw a golf cart on the eastbound 210 near Lake Avenue on Thursday night. Another 911 call reported that the cart exited the freeway at Hill Street.

Officers caught up with the man almost less than a mile from where he was seen as the cart was tracked by CHP officers on Corson Street just west of Hill Street where they stopped it. Andrew Aldridge was the individual who was alone in the cart, showed by the release.

The Dana Point man allegedly confessed to the CHP officers that he got the golf cart from the Rose Bowl, which earlier in the day hosted the playoff semifinal game between the Oregon Ducks and the Florida State Seminoles.

The release also showed that the vehicle had Rose Bowl stickers on the side.

CHP Sgt. Mike Munoz told the Los Angeles Times, “He took the cart and was trying to get to his car on the other side of Pasadena. It’s definitely chalked up as one of the new experiences for a lot of people here”.

Aldridge was taken into custody by the California Highway Patrol officers at about 10:45 p.m. on suspicion of driving a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol. He was booked without incident into the Pasadena Police Department and the cart was seized pending its retrieval by bowl officials.
